Dr. Emily Putnam-Hornstein, a leading scholar in predictive risk modeling in child welfare, provides an overview of predictive risk modeling as a tool for decision making, defines some key terms and concepts, and shares her application of this method in California’s child welfare system. She builds upon research with Allegheny County Human Services department to use predictive risk modeling to support screening decisions from hotline calls.
